This past week, Riders for Health won the UPS-sponsored Best Transport Achievement Award at the Fleet Forum Annual Conference! The award recognized the Riders for Health program in the Gambia, which has helped the country be the first in Africa to “secure reliable access to primary health care for its rural population.” Read more here.
The Rising Stars in Global Health competition, run by Grand Challenges Canada, has put up their first round applicant videos online. Click here to view the videos and vote for your favorite applicants! In particular, check out the slides posted by two CHMI-profiled programs: AYZH’s JANMA-Clean Birth Kit and GVK’s surveillance system for cardiac emergencies in rural India.

Foreign Policy published an article titled Get an MBA, Save the World, which looked at the recent upswing in socially-focused MBA programs and the different ways in which people with MBAs can make a difference in social enterprise and international development.
Check out the BMZ-published report Vouchers: making motherhood safer for Kenya’s poorest women, a report that looks at the partnership between BMA and the Kenyan government that aims to “improve access to reproductive healthcare for the country’s most disadvantaged women.”CHMI staff member Donika Dimovska and the Gates Foundation’s Guy Stallworthy served as peer reviewers for the report.
The Council on Foreign Relations recently published a report titled The New Global Health Agenda, which looks at the growing role that Universal Health Coverage plays in global health agendas. Shout out to the UHC Forward and JLN initiatives that are based at R4D (CHMI’s managing partner) that work towards universal health coverage!
