USAID is the U.S. agency for international development whose work supports long-term and equitable economic growth around the world. The agnecy supports projects in the following areas: economic growth, agriculture and trade; global health; and democracy, conflict prevention and humanitarian assistance. USAID's commitment to improving global health includes confronting global health challenges through improving the quality, availability, and use of essential health services. USAID's objective is to improve global health, including child, maternal, and reproductive health, and reduce abortion and disease, especially HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. USAID has a long history of encouraging collaboration with the private sector to improve health care, and has recently demonstrated this commitment through projects such as PSP-One and SHOPS.
