Summary:

The Abha Seva Sadan Multitherapy Charitable Health Center (ASSMCH) is a project of the Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT), a non-profit NGO for disaster relief and community development registered with the United Nations. ASSMCH was founded to provide quality health care and health education to the rural areas of Jharkhand state in Northeastern India.

Key program components:

Since May of 2005, the Center has been offering treatment in acupuncture, homeopathy and allopathy (Western medicine). More recently, it has begun to offer physiotherapy and plans to provide ayurveda and naturopathy in the future. This holistic approach of combining conventional and alternative treatments allows the therapists to provide the most suitable care for each patient. All services are provided at a nominal fee.

Furthermore, the organization regularly dispatches teams to carry out health awareness campaigns with a focus on nutrition and hygiene. In the future, this will be combined with medical treatment as well as cultural and sports activities, for the all-round physical and mental development of the population.

Through the Community Medical Services, a program of the World Health Organization, ASSMCH also trains local men and women to be primary health care workers. Through their work, these village medical workers can earn a living as well as contribute to an effective health infrastructure in the region.
