The specific objectives of the Akhuwat Health model are raising awareness about a variety of health issues, brining focus on preventive care, encouraging professional approach in health services, and establishing model clinical practices.

Key program components:

Akhuwat Health aims to establish a chain of model clinics with the active involvement of the local society. Akhuwat Health's health facilities focus on prevention, curative care and rehabilitation of patients from low to middle income groups through the establishment of clinics, medical centers and promotion of linkages with other health service providers.

Akhuwat Health Centers provide health services and medication at very subsidized prices and engage in coaching/education on the prevention of common diseases. Furthermore, Akhuwat Health conducts regular free medical camps in its centers and remote areas in order to educate people about various diseases and provide counseling and free medicines. It aims to accomplish its targets in five broad areas:

  • Preventive Health services - To promote primary health care practices in poor and middle class communities
  • Promotive Health Services - To increase health awareness and inspire people to lead quality and healthy lives
  • Curative Health Services - To provide curative services and better manage complications
  • Referral Health Services - To help people access quality health service at an affordable cost from other facilities
  • Rehabilitative Health Services - To address the issues of physical, mental and social disabilities

Akhuwat Health Centers actively engage in estabilishing the model clinics and medical centers and camps, running mobile dispensaries, conducting health awareness seminars, creating linkages and collaborative partnerships with other health services providers, engaging in health related research and development, providing laboratory services and health related professional trainings, running promotional campaigns on health issues and encouraging community mobilization for quality and healthy life.
