Summary:

The An Khang E-clinic is the first clinic in Vietnam managed by a sophisticated electronic management system. The clinic offers a diverse range of services such as nutritional consulting, gynecology testing, pediatrics consulting and health screening.

Key program components:

All medical processes are organized through an IBM server, PCs, and tailored software that allows for the online storage of medical files (patients can thus reach their medical histories from home) and reduces the time patients need to spent in a conventional clinic. Pharmaceutical errors are prevented by digitally transferred prescriptions.

Patients need to provide their personal data only during their first visit to the clinic for issuance of a personal health care ID card. As soon as the patient pays the medical examination fee at the cashier’s counter, patient information and medical requests will appear on the computers of the doctors through the network. This allows for medical records to be summarized and reviewed by multiple doctors (e.g., paraclinical, ultrasound, x-ray), thereby improving the level of accuracy of the final diagnosis. Results are given right after health check-ups and patients can go online to www.akclinic.com.vn to review their earlier health records with a given ID and password. They can also receive testing results via e-mail. E-clinic reduces the time-consuming processes that result from handwritten record-keeping and protects patients from common health care mishaps by using smart e-prescription and e-storage of patients' profiles.
