Association d'Entraide des Femmes (AssEF) is a voluntary health microinsurance provided by a microfinance institution using the mutual model.

Key program components: 

The voluntary health microinsurance product provides 70% coverage of health expenses from general practice, maternity, and hospitalization services for women and their children within a network of providers (as of February 2006).

Exclusions include specialist services and brand name pharmaceuticals. AssEF charges a US$2 enrollment fee in addition to the premium of US$9.60 (CFA F 4800) per beneficiary per year. However, premiums can be paid in monthly increments.

AssEF uses a third-party-payment system to make payments to the health providers.
