Founded in 1991, Dr. Mohan's Diabetes Speciality Centre is an international centre of excellence with a mission to provide comprehensive and diabetic care (i.e. not only routine treatment of diabetes, but also of its various complications). The concept of providing Total Diabetes Care under one roof has been welcomed by all sections of the society.

Within a span of 19 years, over 204,000 diabetic patients have been registered/treated at the centre, making it one of the fastest growing diabetic centres in Asia. Patient care is being offered at three levels: comprehensive screening at primary level, preventive treatment at the secondary level and therapeutic treatment at tertiary level.

Apart from clinical activities, it established a research institution, the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, with the aim of providing a world class environment for research in diabetes and its complications. This is also one of the WHO colloborating centre for Non-communicable Disease Prevention & Control.
