Summary:

Fernandez Hospital is a 130-bed, modern hospital offering the latest and the best possible expertise, technology and equipment in obstetric, gynecology and neonatology care. Fernandez hospital is well known in the city for its excellent, personalized and progressive care for women and newborns.

Key program components:

The Obstetric wing at Fernandez Hospital handles approximately 4000 deliveries per year. At any given time, the 10 bedded Labour Suite is staffed by a Senior Consultant and two obstetricians. Constant monitoring of patients is done by the doctor on duty and supported by caring and experienced nurses and dayas (midwives).

The Labour Ward is the heart of this hospital. Fernandez Hospital has been known for its personalized, protocol based, obstetric care. It is an 11 bedded complex, with air-conditioned delivery cubicles and an operation theatre to cater for obstetric emergencies. A portable ultrasound machine is housed in the labour suite, along with the best available maternal and fetal monitoring equipment.

The various departments in the hospital are:
• Obstetrics
• Gynecology
• Neonatology
• Anesthesia
• Critical Care Services
• Fetal Medicine Unit
• Ultrasonography
• Breast Clinic
• Specialist Clinics
• Pathology
• Administration
• Nutrifit- nutritional advice, care and counseling
• Nursing
• Medical Records

The hospital provides very good quality care, priced at the premium end by local market standards. However, the facility uses cross-subsidization to offer lower-cost care for poor patients from the surpluses generated from wealthy patients (as stated by Dr. Evita Fernandez, Managing Director, Fernandez Hospital at Healthcon, 2009, Hyderabad).
