Summary: 

HER, which stands for “Health Education Response," is a software package designed to provide health information via mobile phone based SMS (text message).

Key program components: 

HER can distribute health information via pre-written content or is capable of forwarding user questions to a pool of counselors. Administrators may also choose to employ a combination of the two methods. The current implementation in Namibia makes available live counselors, pre-written content as well as a database of clinics and hospitals where HIV treatment and counseling is available.Sexual health information is provided either through SMS with pre-written content from an automated database, or through direct caller contact with a counselor.
