The Healthy Family Network (HFN) provides family planning, HIV/AIDS, malaria, noncommunicable disease, post-abortion care, and safe motherhood services.Key program components
The Healthy Family Network has 308 clinics or maternity homes and 200 pharmacies or drug shops, with 87 doctors, 221 nurses, midwives, or clinical assistants, and 299 pharmacists or drug vendors. Clinics deliver clinical services and prescribe medications and health and medical commodities. Network pharmacies distribute prescribed commodities, including family planning products, diarrhea prevention products, malaria prevention products, and long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs), malaria treamtment medicine, and antibiotics for pneumonia. Network medicine vendors dispense prescribed diarrhea prevention commodities, oral contraceptive pills and condoms, and LLINs and artemisinin combination therapy for malaria.
Referral cards are deposited at franchisee clinics and tracks to compare to records maintained by network provides. HFN raises demand for services through community outreach by paid employees, volunteers, and outreach workers who receive commissions for referrals, as well as through clinic-based outreach.
