The scheme covers the cost of drugs for the village and transportation costs of the mobile health team and honorarium of the village health worker. Subscribers are entitled to free primary health care and subsidized referral care. Katsurba Hospital offers free inpatient treatment for unexpected illness to a person who is part of the scheme. Patients with anticipated health needs (i.e. pregnancy) receive a 75 % subsidy. Outpatient health services are made available at 50 % subsidized charges. Whatever balance remains in the community fund gets converted into a village fund to be used for village development activities.

Premium payments can be made in-kind in the form of grain such as Jowar-Sorgam at the harvest time. The grain is collected at harvest time by village health workers to contribute to village fund (as of 2005).
