Key program components:

Kadic Hospital Bukoto is a 32-bed private hospital that serves low and middle-income patients in Kampala, Uganda. The hospital is staffed by 8 medical officers and over 45 on-call consultants of different specialties. It operates 24 hours a day on both an out-patient and in-patient basis and is complimented by the Kadic Clinic Nakulabye on an out-patient basis.

Kadic Hospital Bukoto currently has 4 general wards and 10 self-contained private rooms. It operates a fully fledged laboratory unit, an imaging center with a fully functional CT scanner, two state-of-the-art theaters, a urological center, dental/oral surgery unit, mothers home, fertility clinic, pediatric clinic, a pharmacy and other specialized units. It is currently expanding to accommodate a renal dialysis unit, an intensive care unit and two additional state-of-the-art theaters.

Kadic first established an in-house insurance program to help patients finance health care at a time when most had no external source of insurance. The hospital is now developing relationships with external health insurance companies to begin replacing the in-house membership model. Currently, schemes are offered for families, schools, and corporations, and about 6,000 members contribute 10 percent of hospital revenue through membership premiums.

Program history:

Kadic Health Foundation (KHF) is an indigenous Health Maintenance organization (HMO) which has been operating under KADIC Health Services for the last 3 years. KHF together with Kadic Hospital is situated along Old Kiira road, Plot 86 Bukoto.

Kadic Health Foundation was formed with a vision to participate in overall development of Uganda and the East African region. It was born out of the need to carry out the activities of Kadic Health Services without involving the operations of the hospital.
