Summary: 

The KWFT health microinsurance scheme is underwritten by CIC and NHIP. The voluntary, individual policy is available to all KWFT members.

Key program components: 

The health insurance policy covers the entire family, and the benefits include all inpatient costs, including maternity. The insured must go to appointed hospitals or clinics to receive health services.

The premium is US$39 (KSH 3,600) per year (as of 2010).

CIC is heavily involved in marketing and provides education on insurance. CIC also sells this products through mutuals.
