Summary:

LiFEDATA EMR is a computer-based representation of a patient’s medical record developed by LiFEDATA Systems in 2008. The software allows the linkage of medical records and information among different players in the health system.

Program goals/rationale:

In the past, hospitals and other medical facilities would provide a large space for storage of medical records of past and current patients, including all other documents related to their visit to these facilities. This resulted in difficulties in data management such as lost and misplaced medical records, tracking of patient’s health status, among others. As a result, many facilities are looking for technology-based solutions to help ameliorate this situation.

Key program components:

The LiFEDATA EMR Software allows individual doctors and other medical professionals to organize their practice. Features of this program include organization of patient records, keeping track of schedules and appointments; provide referral systems; and storage of doctor’s notes. The software can be purchased in four different packages, which vary in the availability of their features. For each package, LiFEDATA Systems, Inc. charges a specific amount per month.

With this package, doctors can enjoy services such as templates for doctor’s notes, which include SOAP notes, past medical records, referral letters, and more. It can also access and use nurse’s notes, calendar, summary of records. A major concern on this program is the confidentiality of patient records. LiFEDATA EMR provides security of medical records as it is cloud-based. Thus, records are not actually stored in computers reducing the risk of lost or unauthorized access of records.

This program also has various templates, which caters to different fields of specialization. Thus, doctors will not find the templates inapplicable to record their specific practice. LiFEDATE EMR primarily provides efficiency, mobility, and security of medical records. It also provides convenience as it gives linkages to hospitals, drug stores and HMOs.
