Summary:

MAPS Tu Clinica is a set of clinics in which members and beneficiaries have access to quality primary health care as well as discounted rates for specialized health services at a network of organizations.

Program goals/rationale:

The first clinic was founded in a residential area that has a large population of domestic workers. The clinic hopes to make quality health care accessible to these workers who may not be able to afford health care consultations or treatments and have not enrolled in Seguro Popular, the Mexican government's national health insurance scheme. People purchase memberships to provide health care insurance for their household employees such as maids, chauffeurs, and cooks.

Key program components:

The MAPS Tu Clinica is a network of clinics that provide primary health care at affordable rates. There's a one-time membership fee of $500 Mexican pesos ($37 USD). After paying this fee, additional beneficiaries can be added on to the member's coverage plan for $1000 Mexican pesos ($75 USD) per additional member; this is a fee paid annually to renew the coverage. MAPS Tu Clinica targets domestic workers as their employers may purchase memberships and provide health insurance for their employees.

The benefits package covers general checkups, medical consultations, treatment for minor injuries, 24-hour phone hotline, ambulance services, X-rays, information sessions on prevention of chronic diseases and enrollment in the national health insurance scheme, Seguro Popular. They also offer discounted rates for specialized services provided by a network of 4 other providers (one of which being sala Uno profiled in the CHMI database); these services include eye care, dental care, lab testing, surgeries and hospitalization and reduced prices for generic and patented drugs.

The clinics are set to expand to 2 new locations in Santa Fe and el Pedegral, located in the south of Mexico City.
