Summary: 

MedAfrica is a mobile application which is a one stop shop medical content and information. It enables individuals to get certified information, including doctor contacts, hospital locations, drug information and symptoms monitoring.

Key program components: 

MedAfrica is a platform that seeks to improve the health of communities and regions in which it operates by increasing access to health care related information and services in Africa.

MedAfrica can be used across a number of mobile platforms. It contains services that can easily be added or removed hence personalising the experience for each user. Services are added remotely for users to find and add. It provides users with a menu that has several options:

  • Contacts of doctors and their specialties
  • Hospital listings
  • Drugs available
  • Diet guide
  • Symptoms checker

MedAfrica has developed various partnerships for content provision with Device Manufacturers, Network Operators, the government, and various NGOs.

The platform is currently operating in Nairobi. MedAfrica is actively seeking funding/investors to enable phase 2 and phase 3 roll out of the platform. This will see the monetization of the program as well as its roll out in additional parts of Kenya.
