Summary: 

One of Telkomsel’s application programs is called Dunia Wanita (World of Women), launched in February 2010. By dialing *468# on a mobile phone, customers can have access to Dunia Wanita. It is considered as a “one stop info service” which covers various subjects that appeal to female customers such as cooking, health, beauty, love, career, finances, family, and home. Customers who wish to receive information on a particular subject can choose to subscribe with a price of Rp 1.000 (USD .12) per day.

Key program components: 

Telkomsel operates Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) technology allowing its customers to have access to its application program in the network by entering a message. To start the connection, user sends a USSD message by typing an asterisk (*), digits code, and a number sign (#). For example, Telkomsel’s prepaid users can check their account balance by submitting *888#. The GSM operator will send a reply in a basic display. Through this application, customers can access varieties of women health information through their mobile phone.

Dunia Wanita provides health information on one of its menus “Cantik Sehat”, which means Healthy and Beautiful. Customers are able to send a subscription request to receive health tips from Indonesian well-known doctors such as (1) sex health information by Dr. Boyke, who is an Indonesian specialist in obstetrics and gynecology (2) healthy living tips by Dr. Sonia Wibisono, a medical doctor and host of Ask Your Doctor at Indonesian Television (3) hypno birthing information by dr. Lanny Kuswandi and (4) health and beauty tips by Dr Lula Kamal, a medical doctor and TV Host.
