Summary:

MotoMedics is a social enterprise founded to improve emergency medical response in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Program goals/rationale:

In a city like Hanoi where traffic is a critical problem, emergency ambulance service can hardly reach patients within 30 or 45 minutes after the stress call is made. By then, the chance to provide life-saving medication or procedures significantly decreases.

The introduction of a medical first responder program would improve response times and could significantly increase medial emergency survivial rates as well as lower the costs of medical care for the patient.

Key program components:

MotoMedics are professionally trained first-responders. They provide rapid-response to medical emergencies by travelling on motorbikes - a much faster way to get around Hanoi. Response times in areas covered by the service will be twenty minutes or less.

Unlike traditional ambulance vans, motobikes can navigate through narrow alleyways, which constitute the entryway to the majority of residential buildings. Thus, emergency responders are able to reach clients in need faster, without having to leave their vehicle and walk to the patient's doorstep.

Medics provide immediate care and patient stabilization before transport to further care via ambulance or private vehicle.
