Summary
Nayonika Eyeycare Charitable Trust works with the urban poor in different parts of Bangalore and provide them with eyehealth education and access to quality eyecare services. Covering about 75000 citizens, Nayonika provides free eye screening, cataract surgeries and eye care treatment.Program goals
• To create awareness of Diabetes among urban slum area population • To screen, treat and monitor the patients with Diabetic Retinopathy treatment. • To provide free treatment and free cataract surgeries • To create awareness about eye donations • To conduct 5000 free cataract surgeries and be part of India Vision 2020 goals achievers.
Key program components
• Easy access to NECT for treatment. • NECT conducts eye camps in locations with support from local social worker. • Transport facilities for Patients from camp areas to NECT and Tertiary hospital. • Make shift clinics in most locations • Engage organizations/ individuals who can provide the clinical services (i.e. screening and treatment of DM, HTN etc.) on screening days and conduct eye camps with the support of local clinics.
