Summary:

SIMPUStronik is an information management software being used in health centers, polyclinics, and pharmacies in the Ngawi district to improve efficiency in patient processing, pharmacy service and data collection, processing and analysis.

Key program components:

There are 24 health centers in the Ngawi region that use SIMPUStronik. Within these health centers, SIMPUStronik is used at the front counter in order to more efficiently serve patients using an integrated system for registration, queuing and billing. The application allows for faster searching through the center’s medical records, and enables personnel to access information about patients who have forgotten their membership cards or identifications. The application also allows personnel to calculate the fees that will be charged to the customer based on the room and treatment they will receive and their payment options before customers see the health practitioner. After the patient consults with the doctor, SIMPUStronik automatically sends prescription information to the pharmacy, allowing the counter staff to have the prescription filled and at the ready when customers enter the pharmacy.

SIMPUStronik is also used to organize medical records and make them accessible online. SIMPUStronik also organizes information about patient visits – providing information about illness trends and disease prevention programs to health officials and program managers. Data gathered by SIMPUStronik can be viewed online by users in the health profession, facilitating the exchange of information among health practitioners in Indonesia.

Finally, the application also serves as a platform through which the health centers can monitor activities that they are facilitating outside of the clinic such as health education and disease prevention programs.

Program history:

SIMPUStronik was initially developed in 2003 and has since been upgraded numerous times to comply with improvements and developments in the health office in Ngawi. The success of the application is reflected in neighbouring health districts adopting the application to improve their own patient service and data collection.
