SummaryThe Tanykina Community Health Care Plan (TCHP) targets members of a milk cooperative and provides coverage for primary care, limited secondary care, and transportation to a health facility.
The healthcare plan is offered to all the milk farmers and their families granting them access to affordable quality basic health care and protecting them from health-related risks.
Key program components
The Tanykina Community Health Care Plan is subsidized by donors (25%). The premium for the voluntary product is US$4 (Ksh 375) for one person to US$16.12 (Ksh. 1,499) for a seven person family. The premium is deducted monthly from members' milk accounts (as of 2011). Through the TCHP, health facilities within the Tanykina catchment area have been upgraded to provide quality primary health care. The TCHP will also provide referrals to two quality referral facilities: the AAR Clinic in Eldoret and the Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital.
