Maureen Nafula

Maureen is the Executive Director of the Institute. She has over 18 years health sector experience and has worked with private sector, public sector and development agencies in the East African region which includes Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania Ethiopia and Rwanda.

Maureen was the founding Director of the Advanced Healthcare Management Program at Strathmore Business School; she has also served as an Advisor to the Ministry of Medical Services to support the Ministry’s efforts in health sector reforms focusing on health financing, commodity management, institutional reforms, health care referral strategy and private public partnerships.

Maureen has been/is a member of a number of supply chain committees including the National Systems And Logistics Subcommittee established to coordinate the emergency response for medical commodities and health workers following the December 2007 post election violence; the KEMSA Task Force formed to look into the performance of KEMSA and make recommendations on how to strengthen the institution and the Family Planning Technical Working Group, a standing committee working on improving the procurement and supply chain management of contraceptives in Kenya.

Maureen holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Nairobi and a Masters Degree from the United States University, Africa. She is a Johnson & Johnson Fellow in Health Management and a certified Project Management Professional.
