Munneru Foundation (MF) is an organization striving to address the gap in the availability of low cost primary health care in rural areas. The goal of MF is to set up primary health care centres in the remotest areas of the State , providing OPD facilities as well as medication to the low income ,hard to reach population in the State .
Our mission is to eradicate the lack of health care facilities in rural Telangana by creating a chain of primary health care units that offer high quality, affordable outpatient care in low income, densely populated regions, where health care delivery by the state is sparse.
Our vision is to set up primary health care centres in the remotest corners of Telangana. We intend to scale up and establish 10 centres in the next two years in the most rural areas of Telangana, and over 25 new centres in the next ten years, throughout the length and breadth of our the state . The provision for a mobile hospital equipped to provide basic medical services at the doorstep of the poorest is also envisioned.
Munneru Foundation aims to create a chain of Health clinics –Vision Center, Generic Pharama, Daignositc Lab and Optical Dispensing Center -that provide high quality affordable outpatient care in low-income densely populated regions of Telangana, characterized by dearth of adequate quality primary health care. MF clinics provide an all in price health care service that is cheaper than that ultimately paid at a private clinic or in travelling long distances to access government clinics.
Munneru Foundation has a sound and scalable business model with potential for delivering impact to low-income communities. The idea is to develop each rural centre as a self-sustaining unit, so it may continue to deliver services without any external support.
The key elements of the Innovation are:
• Each primary health care clinic is equipped with four departments namely Vision Center, Generic Pharama, Daignositc Lab and Optical Dispensing Center (Emergency services are not provided). There is a team of specialists in each department and support staff to assist them.
• The patients are required to pay a one-time registration fee of Rs 30 and they are offered diagnosis, service and supply of medicines at cheaper price.
• The centres identify needy patients and arrange for free cataract surgeries in collaboration with Goutami Eye Hospital Khammam and other surgeries in collaboration with Corporate /INGOs.
• In order to motivate Para health teams to continue in service they are provided comprehensive facilities.
• Patients are provided with generic medicines and spectacles at a subsidized rate along with required power glasses.

Our vision is to open fifty of units in the remotest corners of the State
Key program components
The health centre provides primary level of care with 4 departments running simultaneously in each of the centres namely Vision Center, Generic medicine and Optical Dispensing and Diagnostics (V-GO-D)
All simple and basic diagnostic tests (blood sugar tests) are conducted pathological laboratory. Patients are provided with spectacles at a subsidized rate along with required power glasses. The Vision Center identifies cataract patients and the Munneru Foundation arranges for free or subsidized surgery collaboration with Goutami Eye Hospital. The health centres are open 6 days a week from 9am to 6pm.
Each centre is manned by a Vision Technician, pharmacist, paramedic, and optometrist. These medical professionals are assisted by support staff. To overcome language and cultural constraints, all support staff are local residents. They charge a nominal consultation fee of Rs .66 US$1.0 as registration charge in order to avoid misuse of services and to make the project sustainable. The fee includes the provision of primary examinations and tests and covers the operating costs of the centre. The medicines are procured by the MF to make available at a lower price. The high volume of patients helps make the centre to become sustainable.
