Valerie Gilbert Ulep currently works as Supervising Research Specialist at Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS). Prior to joining PIDS, Val worked as Health Policy Fellow then as a Junior Consultant at Health Policy Development Program (HPDP) of UP School of Economics. He provided technical assistance to different health financing research initiatives like Philippine Health Insurance Delivery Review and Expenditure Tracking System Project. He was also part of the World Bank research team that formulated costing analysis to achieve universal health care in the Philippines. Val's interests include Biostatistics, Economic Burden of Diseases and Health Financing. He studied Medical Technology at St. Louis University and received his M.Sc.Epidemiology (Public Health) at the University of the Philippines.
