Aga Khan Development Network eHealth Resource Centre drives improvements in access, quality, cost, efficiency and safety of health care through Information and Communication Technologies. The Centre supports the assessment, development and implementation of eHealth activities in Asia and Africa.Program goals
AKDN eHRC believes that everyone should have access to safe, high-quality, low-cost and equitable health care. The Centre employs information and communication technologies to support the assessment, development and implementation of eHealth activities in Asia and Africa.
The goal of AKDN eHRC is to introduce and support the use of eHealth tools and approaches to enhance the quality of health care; make health care more accessible to communities living at a distance from health facilities; build the capacity of health professionals within and outside AKDN; and, ultimately, strengthen health systems.
Key program components
AKDN eHRC works closely with its clients to understand and identify their eHealth needs, providing them with customized, scalable and measurable eHealth solutions to help them achieve their health care objectives. The Centre's services include:
Assessment: conduct eHealth assessments to help clients understand the meaning and value of eHealth, health system gaps, and technical and programmatic requirements of a successful eHealth programme.
Development of eHealth Strategy: Assist clients with developing country-specific and area-specific eHealth strategies that include short-to-long-term goals and work plans to achieve their eHealth objectives.
Expert Advice on eHealth Applications: Facilitate the product/vendor selection process for any eHealth solution required by clients.
eHealth Capacity Building: Train health care personnel and build their professional capacity to adopt and use eHealth applications.
Technical Support: Provide first-level technical troubleshooting on eHealth applications.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Prepare a framework, based on programme-specific needs, to monitor and evaluate eHealth programmes.
eLearning: Work with our partners to provide an eLearning platform to conduct sessions on Continuous Medical Education, Continuous Nursing Education and special need-based sessions for paramedical staff.
Development of Research Proposals and Courses; Information Dissemination: Assist in developing proposals for donor agencies, prepare courses on eHealth and disseminate information to stakeholders on emerging trends and developments in eHealth.
