Summary
Care 2 Communities (C2C) provides primary health care services to poor communities in Haiti through a social enterprise model. C2C clinics provide affordable, high-quality care and are financially self-sustaining after 3 years of operations.Program goals
C2C seeks to improve global access to primary care by replicating a clinic model that provides affordable, high-quality services to low-income people and families in Haiti and beyond.
C2C had served over 20,000 patients to-date and will open 12-15 new clinics, serving over 100,000 people, by 2018.
Key program components
C2C's clinic model features physician and nursing care, comprehensive diagnostics and pharmacy services on-site, community health education, and a partnership with the Haitian Ministry of Health to extend free priority service programs (family planning and immunizations).
C2C's business model funds start-up costs through charitable contributions and grants until local revenue supports clinic operations - a break even timeline of approximately 3 years.
C2C is experimenting with new programs to support both the business and social missions of the enterprise: OBGYN services, retail sales of health commodities, student health package plans, hub-and-spoke operational efficiencies, and social marketing campaigns.
