SummaryDKT Myanmar is in the process of developing programming to address these issues and provide access to a full range of affordable family-planning options.
DKT is in the early stages of establishing a program in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). Myanmar’s population is estimated at 54 million. At 200 per 100,000 live births, the maternal mortality rate is higher than in a number of other countries in the region, and there is widespread belief that this number is actually higher. More than two-thirds of Myanmar’s population lives in rural communities, and 87 percent of these maternal deaths occur in rural areas.
DKT Myanmar's goals are to develop programming to address these issues and provide access to a full range of affordable family planning options.
