They propose to expand across the region in the "hub & spoke" model to make eye care accessible to the marginalized rural populations who have to travel long distances to access costly eye care in towns & cities.
Key program components
1. Affordable eye care with packages to suit even the poorest 2. Accessible care by way of service in a net worked manner via the "hub & spoke" model 3. Service orientation with stress on quality and a customer service mentality **Revenue sources:** 1. Consultation fee: $1 consultations 2. Pharmacy outlet 3. Optical Retail: Prices start at $2 4. Diagnostic tests 5. Surgical services including cataract surgery – Proposed surgical practices start at $60 Their second center will save transportation time and money for the 50,000+ people residing there who need to access basic eye care. That center is modeled as a basic "vision center" and will be run by trained optometrists. ERC has been running a single center in Jorhat since June 2011 and now plans to offer similar services across underserved areas of the region, in addition to upgrading to include surgical services.
