Summary
Instituto Saúde e Sustentabilidade (ISS) promotes health through social engagements, dissemination of information and social sustainable development. Its Rádio na Comunidade (FUMCAD) program provides radio stations with CDs to broadcast with positive health messages for the city of São Paulo.Program goals
Its main purpose is to contribute to healthy living in large cities, from the preservation and promotion of human health, through the implementation of projects involving several actors in society such as government agencies, civil society, third sector, private companies, educational institutions, communities, among others.
Key program components
The Institute, founded in 2008, aims to bridge health and environmental sustainability issues. Through publications, awareness campaigns, and public events (races) the ISS teaches the population aware of their rights, their health needs and how to live a better and healthier life in urban centers.
The Radio in the Community (FUMCAD) program makes use of the Community Radio Stations to guide families and communities on how to take better care of their children and teens, so they can grow up with dignity and health. The project consists of recording CDs for distribution to community radio stations with simple and objective phrases with information and educational content on four main themes: Violence Protection, Family, Environment, and Health. The locutions may be transmitted at any time in the station's schedule. The idea is to engage broadcasters in the work to outspread this information to families and communities, as true multipliers of this noble cause.
