Summary
Kangu has a big dream: every woman in the world has a safe birth. Kangu’s crowdfunding platform is designed to help put an end to preventable maternal & newborn deaths by enabling microdonors to support life-saving health services for pregnant women (mamas) & their babies in need, globally.Program goals
Kangu aims to reach 1,000 pregnant women in need, since its creation in 2013, by the end of 2015.
Key program components
At www.kangu.org, anyone – anywhere – can search profiles of pregnant women in need and contribute towards eliminating the financial barrier for a specific woman to access high-quality healthcare before, during and after childbirth (including: antenatal care, STI testing and treatment, emergency obstetric and neonatal care, vaccines, family planning, and health education on breastfeeding, nutrition and more. These services, provided by vetted local medical partners, are proven to reduce maternal and newborn deaths by up to 80%.
By leveraging technology and social networking platforms, Kangu creates new funding streams for local mamas, hospitals and clinics while also educating and cultivating a new donor and advocacy community for RMNCH. Together, we can help put a stop to maternal and newborn death.
