Year launched: 2016To raise the £100k needed for the next stage of LIFE, we will be launching a crowdfunding campaign on the University of Oxford’s brand new platform, OxReach. Our greatest chance of raising the necessary funds is to build social media excitement around the project when it launches on 12th March.
It would be invaluable to LIFE if, once the campaign has launched in March, you would be willing to reach out to your social media following by posting about the project. By coordinating a social media drive via different networks and social media influencers, our aim is to make this campaign go viral. We are also looking for donations.
£100k funding will enable us to develop and test the LIFE platform, including the creation of our first full scenario on paediatric resuscitation.
We propose to develop a 3D game that can be installed onto an Android Smartphone as a native application (app). In the game, users experience a 3D virtual world on their smartphone, navigate a hospital setting and confront the emergency scenario to simulate real life.
Once the 3D game development is completed, the game will also be modified to enable users to experience the game using a VR headset. These can be powered by the user’s mobile phone or a computer. They can detect the users’ head movements enabling a realistic virtual reality experience potentially comparable to simulation training facilities currently utilised in high income settings.
