Sangath provides services through centre based clinics and research. One of the most innovative strategies of Sangath is to use relatively low cost human resources or existing human resources, by empowering them with knowledge and support from more specialized personnel.
Sangath's core clinical activities cover the whole lifespan ranging from children to the elderly. It provides services in three settings: at the centres, community settings and in schools. Among the services provided by Sangath are the following:

Parent and child counseling
Remedial education for learning difficulties
Early intervention programs for developmental delays
Family and couples therapy
Specialised psychological treatments like interpersonal therapy and cognitive behaviour therapy

Sangath is one of India's leading community based health research NGOs. It has been cited in a recent report on the role of NGOs in public health as having led to "innovative research of relevance to public health in developing countries" (PLoS Med 2007;4(9):e272). The main health conditions and issues being researched are mental disorders (particularly depression and alcohol abuse), adolescent health, reproductive and sexual health and maternal and child health.
